Services offered:
Covenstead Custom prints Pagan and Magical newsletters and journals, books-by-commission, collaborative works and much more. The primary difference between Covenstead Custom and the standard Covenstead Press imprint is that Covenstead Custom works are very limited in their appeal, not peer reviewed (although we will send it to the worker-members for editorial work, if you desire) and the books are not distributed to the big multi-press catalogs. Your Covenstead Custom book is not available on Amazon.com and other online retailers, although we will help you set up a distribution plan for a flat $150 fee. A free listing is available in our catalogs, both online and paper, so independent bookstores will have access to your book if you so desire, even if you do not pay for distribution. We offer a POD version of Covenstead Custom and a limited-run version. We will set up your POD book for free, and your run of 50-5000 copies for a flat per-book fee. Our commission varies based on the type of book and the number of pages.
We will print as little as two copies if that is your desire.
The Difference:
You can pay-to-print anywhere, but Covenstead Custom books are professionally overseen. If your book has a lot of simple problems that are easily fixed, we will fix them. If your problems are more extensive, we may suggest solutions, or you can have it printed as-is. We will not charge you for these services! Unless otherwise noted, we consider every book submitted to Covenstead Custom as a potential Covenstead Press full-release book, although submitting to Covenstead Custom does not increase the likelihood that a book will be selected over one that is conventionally submitted. Covenstead is owned and operated by members of the Modern Pagan community... The money spent in the Pagan community stays in the Pagan community. We will encourage you to publish your book in the most renewable, most affordable way for your readers. We will not tack on pages or large typesets to bulk up your work. Our cut for most works is an even 10% of the cost of the book... far less than most places!
Unique Collaborative Showcases:
Covenstead Custom is also the home of Covenstead Press' collaborative works. Although we print them on the Covenstead Press imprint, they are considered Covenstead Custom books because their authors do not automatically become worker-members and they do not usually receive a royalty. Even with those limitations, our collaborative works give authors a chance to show their stuff and build a portfolio of non-fiction, poetry, or ritual that will help those authors convince other presses to give them a chance. While collaborative works do not often pay royalties, we do provide all contributors a free edition of their book, which is worth more than the pennies per word some people earn with royalties. Amazing Journal Editions:
Covenstead Custom is also the home of Covenstead Press' journal division, although we do not, as a rule, put the name of our press on the journals we distribute.
